FSSAI Requirement for Zomato and Swiggy
Both Zomato and Swiggy require a valid, active FSSAI license or registration before they can list any restaurant or food business on their platform. This is a non-negotiable requirement that applies to:
- Restaurants and dine-in eateries
- Cloud kitchens and ghost restaurants
- Home-based food businesses
- Tiffin services and meal prep businesses
What FSSAI Document Does Zomato/Swiggy Need?
You need to submit your FSSAI certificate (PDF or clear image) during the restaurant onboarding process. The 14-digit FSSAI number is also entered in the platform registration form.
How Quickly Can I Get Listed?
The timeline depends on how quickly you get your FSSAI license:
- Normal Registration: FSSAI in 7-10 days + Platform onboarding 7-14 days = ~3 weeks total
- Tatkal Service: FSSAI in 3-7 days + Platform onboarding 7-14 days = ~2 weeks total
Our Tatkal service significantly reduces your time-to-market on food delivery platforms.
ONDC Registration and FSSAI
ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) — the government-backed alternative to Swiggy and Zomato — also requires FSSAI registration. If you plan to list on ONDC, you need a valid FSSAI number.
What If My FSSAI Expires After Listing?
Zomato and Swiggy actively monitor FSSAI expiry. If your license expires, they may temporarily delist your restaurant until renewal is confirmed. Renew at least 30 days before expiry to avoid delisting.
